QUINN Green

- Protecting Our ONE World -

We only have ONE planet

And we do our part to ensure its longevity, from eco-friendly building to sustainable finishes and beyond.

It is both an individual and collective responsibility to ensure a harmonious future for our planet.

Our Commitment to Power Up Your Journey

Energy Efficient Construction

We favor efficient design approaches when construction building, using a range of design and fit-out templates, and specifying sustainable finishes, such as solid surface quartz or granite countertops, and tankless water heaters.

All our communities are built to high energy efficiency levels with double glazed windows, high quality insulation, and LED lighting.

We are proud to announce that some of our homes have achieved net-neutral status, producing as much energy as they consume and leaving no carbon footprint behind—a significant milestone in our journey toward a greener future.

Power Up Your Journey

Electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is standard in our garages (when possible), and select communities also feature shared EV charging stations for added convenience.

Energy Efficient Appliances

All new homes are fitted with high efficiency Energy Star rated appliances as standard when possible.¹

To earn the ENERGY STAR label, products must meet rigorous energy efficiency standards established by the US Environmental Protection Agency or the US Department of Energy.

This certification usually means saving annually on energy bills while maintaining expected quality and performance.

¹Homes in the established properties are fitted with Energy Star rated appliances when upgrades or replacements are required.

Rooted in a Greener Future

With a vision to nurture hope for the future, we are planting a tree for each home within select communities.

Planting trees offers a range of benefits, including cleaner air through CO2 absorption, natural cooling and reduced energy use, improved neighborhood aesthetics, enhanced biodiversity and wildlife habitats, noise reduction, erosion control, carbon storage for climate mitigation, and better mental and physical well-being.

Conserving Water, One Drop at a Time

To minimize water waste, we install high-efficiency plumbing fixtures in all our homes.  We also have Leak Protection via Smart Technology sensors that notify for immediate solutions.

Light Up Your World with Solar Power

Solar panels harness renewable sunlight to generate clean electricity, cutting carbon emissions. They also lower utility bills by enabling self-sufficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the environment.

Following our success in one community, we have begun expanding this initiative to others.

BEE the Change You Want to See

- Our Partnership -

The Buzz ...

In collaboration with our beekeeper partner, Alevole, explore the ties that binds us to bees and why we need each other.

Bees

We’re proud to take part in the movement for a more eco-conscious city by taking honey bees under our wing by giving them a home.

Honey

Each bee will produce about 1/8 teaspoon of honey in its entire lifetime. In select communities, our residents enjoy this sweet delight.

BeeKeeping

The installation of a hive in an urban environment requires minimal resources, but brings a flood of direct and indirect benefits.

Pollinators

Pollinators are responsible for the pollination of a third of the food we eat and their populations are declining around the world.

Our beehive project with Alevole demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship and community enrichment. By installing an apiary, we support pollinator conservation and provide a unique, engaging experience for residents.

The project enhances biodiversity, supports local ecosystems, and offers educational opportunities about bees and sustainability. This initiative highlights our dedication to innovative, eco-friendly practices that benefit both our community and the planet.

BEE the first . . .

Harmony Heights is our first Quinn Management community that got this initiative started. This means as a resident of Harmony Heights you can visit the hive at your community, participate in an educational workshop to learn about nature hands-on, enjoy their sweet honey, and follow your bees digitally by clicking on image.

BEES

  • Bees are focused on gathering resources, only stinging to protect the hive. Italian bees are docile and well-suited to urban settings, with minimal stinging incidents.
  • Each hive contains one queen, female workers, and male drones; honeycombs store resources and brood, essential for colony survival.
  • In winter, bees cluster around the queen, keeping the hive warm; strong hives are divided in spring to maintain balance.
  • Bees thrive in cities due to a pesticide-free environment with ample water and flowers, and they communicate with pheromones and color vision, dedicating their lives to the colony.

HONEY

  • Bees collect nectar within a 5 km radius of their hive, transforming it into honey by adding enzymes and reducing water content, then sealing it in waxed cells for storage.
  • Honey reflects the local ecosystem, carrying flavors from all flowers visited by bees.
  • Raw, unpasteurized honey naturally crystallizes, retaining its flavor and nutrients while changing texture; it can be stored indefinitely at room temperature.
  • To produce 1 kg of honey, bees fly the equivalent of four times around the Earth, visiting up to 4.5 million flowers; each bee produces about 1/8 teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.

URBAN BEEKEEPING

  • Urban beehives are powerful educational tools that promote environmental awareness and positively impact local ecosystems.
  • Installing a hive in cities requires minimal resources but offers numerous social and ecological benefits, including repurposing space and producing local honey.
  • While originally agricultural, urban beekeeping now raises awareness about industrial agriculture’s environmental impact.
  • Urban beekeeping has deep roots, with early initiatives like the 1856 beekeeping school in the Luxembourg Gardens and the 1982 hives at the Opéra de Paris.

POLLINATORS

  • Honey bees are essential pollinators, widely used in agriculture to support crops like blueberries and apples.
  • Since 2013, Alvéole has installed urban hives and educated over 25,000 people in North America and Europe, creating an awareness on issues like pesticide use and biodiversity loss.
  • Wild bee species native to Canada, unlike honey bees, support local ecosystems but face declines along with other pollinators due to industrial agriculture and climate change.
  • Pollinators are vital for over 130 crops, contributing to one-third of our food; their decline threatens food supply and raises agricultural costs.
